Pine nuts are the fanciest of all the nuts and high in protein, dietary fiber and flavor. Pine nuts are also the only nuts with highest concentration of oleic acid. Freshly shelled pine nut kernels are extracted to produce pine nut oil that is very famous for its nutty and mild flavor. Pine nut shells

Pine nut shell is as raw material for preparation of high surface area activated carbon (HSAAC) by microwave induced KOH activation. The effects of microwave power, activation duration and KOH/C mass rate (R) on the iodine adsorption capability and activated carbon yield were investigated. Additionally the surface characteristics of HSAAC were characterized by nitrogen adsorption isotherms and SEM.
